ATP Takeaway: National Walking Day is always a great reason to head out of the office for a stroll around the community with your coworkers and friends. Continue to incorporate walking for employee wellness initiatives.

Arlington Transportation Partners celebrated National Walking Day 2017 last week with over 1,000 walkers stopping by one of our three pit stops in Ballston, Crystal City and Rosslyn. This year, we had an additional pit stop at Columbia Pike hosted by Arlington County and WalkArlington. Sunny 70°F weather made it ideal for our registrants to enjoy a walking break with friends and coworkers.

National Walking Day 2017 Round-Up

Participants referred to the guided tours in the Walkabout maps, or just to stroll around the block near their offices. On their route, walkers stopped by the pit stop closest to their route to partake in the festivities planned at each location. Fun swag, information from local vendors and desk fitness demonstrations by Virginia Hospital Center were available at all pit stops.

Office walking groups

Many ATP Champions organized walking groups amongst their staff and registered for the event to confirm participation, including PBS, the Smithsonian Institution, NatureServe, Fors Marsh Group, Hilton Arlington & Towers and more. We also had many participants in Arlington Public Schools who conducted their own walking groups after school.
