ATP TAKEAWAY: Treat the Pope's visit like a snow day or Inauguration Day when it comes to your commute. However, that doesn't mean you can't get plenty of work done, opt for a different commute!

Join our friends at Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation and other transit agencies across the Commonwealth to celebrate Try Transit Week from September 21-25, 2015!

Why should you try transit services? Well, in case you missed all our memos about the health benefits, stress reduction and money savings, here’s another good reason – THE POPE!

Pope Francis will be in Washington on September 22-24. This means that your daily commute will probably definitely take a little to a lot longer than normal. Time for plan B! This week is a good time to try a new alternative to your regular commute.

Take the Try Transit Week pledge and win great prizes! When you take the pledge, you will be entered for a chance to win a year of FREE transit service of your choice.

Try Transit Week BannerGreat commuting options include:

Telework - Teleworking is a great alternative to avoiding the rush hour traffic especially during the Pope’s visit. ATP is always available to help you implement a pilot program or formalize your telework policy.

Metrorail/ART Bus/Metro Bus – Any option that doesn’t have you stuck behind the wheel is always a better option in my opinion. Even if it takes a few extra minutes it’s definitely worth it. You can catch up on emails or simply relax in your seat. Some helpful apps to find the right route for you are: CarFreeAtoZ, Transitapp, BusTrackDC

Bike – Ride your bike or Capital Bikeshare; both are great options to avoid the traffic and keep moving. Voila, here’s the app you need to get started – Spotcycle.

Bonus Tip: If you are an employer or residential community in Arlington County, chances are, ATP has created a customized Quick Glance which outlines all nearby transportation options. This week is maybe a good time to look at it and try a new mode. Don’t have a Quick Glance? No worries! Email us at solutions@transpartners.com and we’ll be happy to create one for you.
