ATP hosts networking happy hours events every spring and fall to support the businesses and properties that value sustainable transportation as it pertains to their property’s or business’ success. Our Champions go above and beyond to improve the lives of their residents, employees and visitors by providing easier access to transportation and offering transportation amenities.
Yesterday, ATP brought the networking happy hour to New District Brewing Company in Shirlington. Tucked away next to the dog park, this hidden gem provided a great venue for our clients to explore a new place in their own backyard and exchange with other leaders. These events allow property managers, employers and APS staff see the unique approaches that others are taking to address issues of transportation demand management (TDM) and the specific actions they are taking to do so.
During the event connections were strengthened and ideas were exchanged. I talked with an excited client about their future for 2017, where they will be working with the County to create an enhanced bus stop. The idea for improving their bus stop came after they witnessed many people crowding by the bus stop pole, exposed to the elements in inclement weather with no bus shelter. These are exactly the kinds of actions that we want to share and spread.
All of our Champions, whether they are small or large businesses, old or new buildings or schools do their part are shining examples of how transportation programs serve and enhance organizations in Arlington. At each level within the Champions program, each organization has been pushing further throughout the year to make improvements and rise through the ranks. There are only a few weeks left within this Champions awards year, so be sure to your rep to see how you can level up!
Beyond professional development, our networking happy hour event has great food and raffles for giveaways. Guests enjoyed delectable catering from Busboys and Poets, an ATP Champion, and three lucky attendees received gift cards for Amazon, Ambar and Uber.
Keep an eye out for our upcoming Champions Banquet where you will be recognized for the great work you do. The banquet will be taking place on February 2 and further details will be circulated in the near future.
