And It's Back To Work...

Written by Keara Mehlert | October 31, 2012

The four day weekend is over folks – we hope everyone is safe and relatively unscathed from Hurricane Sandy! The storm certainly did a number on transportation in the region, and for those who are heading back to work today, we hope your commute goes smoothly! Whether you are driving, biking, walking, or riding transit, take care on your way to and from work. There are numerous resources to check out the status of your primary commuting option including Dr. Gridlock, MetroAlerts, the BikeArlington forums, or Arlington Transit alerts.

There are plenty of other transportation options available if you’re unable to get to work like you usually do! Check out WMATA’s Service Nearby tool to see what public transit stops are near you, or use the Trip Planner tool to figure out the best way to get from point A to point B. Capital Bikeshare is also up and running, so be sure to use the Spotcycle app before heading out to see the status of each station. For those who are biking, be careful on wet roads – watch out for standing water as well as slippery leaves, especially on trails.

Remember, it’s always good to have a backup commute option! For specific directions and routes from your home to your workplace on transit, feel free to request a Personalized Commute Planner from ATP. We can help you plan easy and fast routes for getting to work without your car – for more information, contact us today! Also check out our emergency commute planner checklist so you and your employees can be prepared in the event of another weather emergency!

Stay safe out there, commuters!
