Did You Know? ATP Partners with Local Businesses

Written by Jonathan Boldes | September 18, 2015

In our quest to spread knowledge to the masses (why yes, the Pope’s visit is influencing my writing style) on transportation in Arlington we often find ourselves in need of a little assistance. Partnering with businesses allows Arlington Transportation Partners (ATP) to both enhance the services we offer while simultaneously working to support local companies. We work alongside the best of the best and we cannot thank them enough – not to mention that many of our partners are also Champions!

Arlington’s Business Improvement Districts

Whether enjoying a farmer’s market or taking advantage of pit stops during Bike to Work Day each year, you have likely encountered one of Arlington’s great Business Improvement Districts (BIDs). ATP works with local BIDs in hosting events such as National Walk@Lunch Day and Car Free Day (which happens to be next Tuesday, 9/22!)

And while not technically a BID, it’s important to also recognize Columbia Pike Revitalization Organization, a great partner for all things on the Pike and a Silver Level Champion.

Local Businesses

Commonwealth Joe
Our go-to coffee provider and a Silver Level Champion, we could not be happier to work with one of Northern Virginia’s premier coffee providers. The owners are amazingly talented at what they do – and are sustainable transit enthusiasts to boot. Make sure to check out their TransitScreen at their storefront location in Courthouse and this great guest blog from Commonwealth Joe COO, W. Chase Damiano.

Revolution Cycles
ATP partners with Revolution Cycles to provide a slew of benefits to our Champions! Being a Champion themselves, Revolution Cycles is able to come out to requested locations for on-site bike tune-ups to help them level up in Champions as well as qualify for higher awards in the Bicycle Friendly Business program.

Clean Air Partners
Clean Air Partners is a nonprofit partnership with the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG) and the Baltimore Metropolitan Council (BMC) that works to improve health and the environment throughout the region. We are happy to share their materials to help others learn how removing a few less cars on the road can help improve the air around us. Check out this great interview with Dr. Janet Phoenix of Breathe DC and the steps we can take to improve air quality in Arlington.

You can sign up for their air quality alerts here.

Arlington Economic Development
Arlington Economic Development dedicates itself to creating a sustainable community with economically competitive companies; ATP is excited to partner with AED on various projects to help ensure Arlington’s growth. Currently, Arlington Economic Development is hosting a competition for a startup company to live and work in Arlington, VA FREE for 3 months. ATP is excited to help the winning company get on their feet with employee transportation incentives.

While not necessarily local business partners, we are also happy we work with both the League of American Bicyclists on their Bicycle Friendly Business program and the National Center for Transit Research on their Best Workplaces for Commuters award.
