WMATA Platform Improvement Project: Closures on the Orange Line Starting May 28, 2022

Platform Improvement Project is WMATA’s ongoing effort to make the platforms safer and more accessible for all customers. Starting May 28 thru September 5, 2022 rail service east of Stadium Armory on the Orange Line will be suspended as a part of the Platform Improvement Project for platform reconstruction and station modernization. Here’s a brief project update:

 

 

Station Closures: May 28 -September 5, 2022

Five Orange Line stations will be closed during this time:

  • New Carrollton
  • Landover
  • Cheverly
  • Deanwood
  • Minnesota Ave

There will be no Orange Line service east of Stadium-Armory. The Orange Line trains will operate between Vienna and Stadium-Armory

Commute Options

Riders can choose between several shuttle options as they travel to and from the shutdown stations. 

  • Free shuttle bus service: this service will operate during all hours the rail system is open.
  • Local Shuttle: this service will operate every 15-20 minutes between New Carrolton, Landover, Cheverly, Deanwood, Minnesota Ave and Stadium-Armory
  • Express 1: this service will operate every 10-15 minutes with limited stops at New Carrolton, Landover, and Stadium-Armory
  • Express 2: this service will operate every 10-15 minutes with limited stops at Deanwood, Minnesota Ave and Stadium-Armory
