Celebrating More Champions - 8 Days to Go

ATP TAKEAWAY: Whether your company is large or small and regardless of the transit programs you're trying to implement, ATP can help (for free!).

We hope all 122 Champions are excited for the BIG day coming up; only 8 days to go until our Champions Breakfast Ceremony on Wednesday, January 28, 2015.

One of the things we’re most proud of in 2014 is the wide variety of companies that have participated in Champions. While our program was initially only for employers, it grew to include residential communities, hotels, commercial properties and even universities! We’d especially like to recognize George Mason University – Arlington Campus, a Platinum Level Champion and a role model for other Arlington County universities.

Josh Cantor, Director of Parking and Transportation, knows there isn’t just 1 solution when it comes to daily commutes for a wide variety of people. Simply put, you need to provide options. George Mason University, located in Virginia Square, offers a variety of transit options to its faculty, students, staff and visitors. The university is located a couple of blocks from Virginia Square Metro Station, with a Capital Bikeshare station on site (Fairfax Dr & Kenmore St) and accessible by multiple bus routes!

In their effort to fulfill their mission to reduce the number of single occupancy vehicles, they host several events throughout the year such as Bike to Mason Day, Earth Day and Welcome Fair to better share information regarding the transportation options available.
Josh Cantor is also an active member of the Association for Commuter Transportation and the man behind making GMU an outstanding Platinum Champion.

Champions 2015
Even though Champions 2014 has come to a close, ATP is already looking to honor even more Champions in 2015! Champions is a 1-year program with an informal re-enrollment process. Simply put, your rep will contact you to confirm you’d like to participate again. Platinum Level Champions like George Mason University will simply continue to receive their earned recognition and invitations to special Champion events as we move into 2015.
