ATP Takeaway: A lunchtime walk around the block is good for you, and it’s even more enjoyable when you go out with your team on National Walking Day. Take a look at our favorite moments from this year’s event.

We held our annual National Walking Day event on a warm and sunny Wednesday, April 3. The Arlington Transportation Partners (ATP) team was stationed at pit stops throughout Arlington, Virginia and was joined by a host of partners to make the event come alive. Whether you missed it and want to catch up, or just want to relive the moment, you can take a look at the highlights below.

Midday Break

This year, more than 900 people registered and 1,063 people visited the pit stops in Ballston, Columbia Pike, Crystal City, and Rosslyn for their lunch breaks.

Ballston welcomed new neighbors such as Vida Fitness and Ballston Quarter. In Rosslyn, The Little Beet stole the show with their delicious samples of vegan and gluten-free treats. At the Crystal City pit stop, Sport and Health Club taught 15-minute fitness classes, and CorePower Yoga raffled off a month of free classes. Columbia Pike attendees duked it out in mitts and pads with the teams from Evolve All and Pentagon Mixed Martial Arts.

At each pit stop, guests picked up a custom map with the best walks in their work neighborhood for future lunch breaks and stainless-steel reusable straws with their own cleaners. Plus, one person from each pit stop was randomly selected in a giveaway to receive a Fitbit Inspire HR.

Evening Fun

This year, WalkArlington extended the festivities and hosted an evening social at Heavy Seas Alehouse in Rosslyn, including a guided walking tour around Rosslyn’s most interesting historic features. Attendees learned about the Deep Throat Garage on Nash Street, Gateway Park, and Dark Star Park’s unique art installation on Fort Myer Drive.

Thank You to Our Partners

We would like to give WalkArlington a special thank you for putting together the evening event and for helping sponsor the maps and swag at all the pit stops.

We also want to thank the partners at each pit stops who made the day so fun.
