The League of American Bicyclists has announced it has inducted Arlington’s very own, Nestlé USA, into it’s ranks as a Bronze-level Bicycle Friendly Business (BFB). Arlington Transportation Partners (ATP) is excited to celebrate Nestlé’s esteemed accomplishment in joining over 1,400 pragmatic businesses throughout the US who boast Bicycle Friendly designations.

Biking Benefits

Since moving headquarters to Arlington’s Rosslyn urban village in 2018, Nestlé USA is uniquely situated to take full advantage of community offerings when it comes to transportation. Being steps away from the Rosslyn Metro Station and bus bays, as well as a Capital Bikeshare station - Nestlé employees have plenty of commuting options at their disposal. These options are made more accessible by the benefits offered by Nestlé to their Arlington employees.

Some of these benefits include Capital Bikeshare corporate memberships, pre-loaded SmarTrip cards, a financial incentive for biking and walking, free access to showers, lockers, and the on-site gym, as well as plentiful secure and open bike parking. These amenities and benefits support Nestlé’s employees commuting throughout Arlington to choose the best method for them. According to ATP’s Champions program standards, all the events, benefits, and active promotion of alternative transportation options contributed to Nestlé achieving the Platinum level in 2023.

Arlington is Bicycle Friendly

The announcement of Nestlé’s Bronze BFB achievement comes soon after Arlington’s recent upgraded designation as a Gold Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC). Nestlé’s designation is a testament to their persistent drive to maintain an attractive workplace to current and prospective employees, as well as outside stakeholders and visitors. Upholding these values in a workplace setting only strengthens Arlington County’s vision of an active and mobile community.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

Nestlé USA’s Arlington site received help from ATP throughout their BFB application process. ATP attended Nestlé’s employee wellness events and benefits fairs to speak directly with employees about their commutes and provide them with safety equipment and informational resources, like bike lights and BikeArlington’s Bicycle Comfort Map. ATP also worked with Nestlé to compile relevant information and photos to support the application, as well as helping to promote more resources to their employees through their interactive information displays and company wide intranet.

How Can ATP Help?

If your workplace is ready to apply or renew their Bicycle Friendly Business designation, ATP can help! We’d love to assist you in completing the application and ensure your employees are getting the most out of their benefits. The next upcoming BFB deadline is June 5, 2024. Also, if you’d like your organization to receive recognition for their BFB application, join the Champions program.
