ATP Takeaway: Meet the progressive management team focused on improving building-level programs and amenities; their efforts have earned JLL's Waterview a Platinum Level Champions designation in 2018.

Arlington Transportation Partners (ATP) is excited to highlight Waterview as a commercial office transportation leader in Arlington County. Through their participation in Champions the Waterview has hosted Bike to Work Day breakfasts for cyclists, conducted a LEED certification survey, and introduced all new tenants to ATP for a Champions introductory meeting. For these efforts and more, ATP has recognized Waterview as a Platinum Level Champion for 2018.

Located a block and a half from the Rosslyn Metro Station, Waterview features 24 stories of 647,000+ square feet of Class A office space. Managed by Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), the property is occupied by major tenants with over 7,000 employees commuting to and from the building each weekday. In addition to achieving Platinum Level in Champions, the building has earned numerous designations and awards including LEED Gold certification, TOBY Outstanding Building of the Year, and Silver Level Bicycle Friendly Business.

Forward Thinking

Working alongside ATP, property management has played an integral role in maintaining and implementing sustainable transportation amenities, programs, and initiatives for building tenants. These include a secure bike room equipped with bike tune-up equipment, shower and locker facilities, reserved carpool and vanpool spaces in the garage, Capital Bikeshare corporate memberships, and pre-tax transit benefits. Waterview’s partnership and willingness to ease their tenants' commutes is evident as stated by the Senior General Manager, Leigh Carter:

Working with ATP gives us the opportunity to work with a knowledgeable team that provides valuable transportation information that benefits our tenants' employees. During our annual summer social event, ATP assisted in educating our new tenants about their commute options and informed attendees on the various building amenities available to them. It was a win-win for our tenants and the community and we thank ATP for always being a true transportation partner.

Parking congestion mitigation

With the building at 100% occupancy, management has made it a priority to find solutions to reduce overcrowding in the parking garage by promoting non-driving commute options. In addition to providing designated carpool and vanpool spaces, management has been proactive in sharing bike commuting as an option to tenant employees by highlighting the building's close proximity to the Mount Vernon and Custis trails, providing Capital Bikeshare memberships to employees, and hosting bike focused events in the spring and summer months.

Lastly the management team made investments earlier this year to update the bike room and install additional indoor and outdoor bike racks, providing over 150 bike parking spaces for employees who commute by bike.
