ATP Takeaway: In case you missed Arlington Transportation Partners (ATP)'s recent webinar on how to stay up to date on transportation news, we've detailed some of the highlights here. Find resources from each presenter and watch the recording.

Are you ever curious where to find information on Metrorail construction, if inclement weather will delay your bus route, or how to find the closest Capital Bikeshare station? Arlington Transportation Partners (ATP) has you covered. We recently hosted a webinar on how to stay up to date on Transportation News. The speakers, representing ARLnow, Vision Zero, Arlington Transit (ART), Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), as well as WalkArlington, BikeArlington, and Capital Bikeshare, all shared how to find the most pertinent news and alerts to help take the guesswork out of your commute.

Highlights from the Panelists

Jo DeVoe, Assistant Managing Editor with ARLnow suggests checking their website and social media pages, as well as subscribing to their variety of daily newsletters. Christine Baker, Program Manager at Arlington County’s Vision Zero, directed viewers to be on the lookout throughout the year for communications on their website and across most social media platforms. Vision Zero also distributes a monthly newsletter, annual and mid-year reports, and hosts multiple opportunities for the public to engage with their work and provide feedback.

Paul Mounier explained how ART alerts are posted to their various channels as information becomes available or you can subscribe to them on their website. You can also customize the alerts by registering for the route specific updates, so the information you receive is relevant to your commute. WMATA’s Senior Business Development Account Executive, Antoinette Rucker, shared plenty of helpful resources relating to safety, mobile apps, and trip planners to help you navigate the Metrorail and Metrobus systems with ease during your commute.

ATP and Active Transportation

Representing WalkArlington, BikeArlington, and Capital Bikeshare, Raymond Duran informed attendees on how to stay in touch with active transportation news, events, and resources in Arlington County. He recommends checking out each website and downloading the Capital Bikeshare app

ATP shares its news through blogs and monthly newsletters, accessible on the website and promoted on social media. Recently, our blogs have recapped our annual Champions Banquet celebration in February and the launch of Champions 2024 soon thereafter. You can also find blogs on Arlington’s recent upgraded designation to a Gold Bicycle Friendly Community and the escalator renovation at the Rosslyn Metro Station.
